Christian Science Nurse Services

All Christian Science nurses on our staff fulfill the requirements of the “Christian Science Nurse” by-law in the Church Manual, by Mary Baker Eddy:

“A member of The Mother Church who represents himself or herself as a Christian Science nurse shall be one who has a demonstrable knowledge of Christian Science practice, who thoroughly understands the practical wisdom necessary in a sick room, and who can take proper care of the sick.” (p. 49, Sect. 31).

Accordingly, if you choose to come to Clearview, you can count on these expectations being met:

• You will receive wholehearted support of your desire to rely radically on Christian Science for healing and renewal, being assured that our Christian Science nurses will support you in understanding and demonstrating that “scientific being and divine healing includes a perfect Principle and idea, —perfect God and perfect man,” as Mrs. Eddy tells us in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, (259:12).
• You will be given prompt and expert Christian Science nursing care, which will meet your need for comfort, cleanliness, proper nourishment, and suitable activity, in a manner consistent with the practical wisdom deemed necessary in the sickroom.
• The Christian Science nurses will honor the work of the Christian Science practitioner on the case with expectancy of healing.
• You will always be treated with love, patience, compassion, respect, dignity, and gentleness—always with regard for your safety and well-being.
• You can look forward to your physical environment being clean, comfortable, suitably arranged, and with proper ventilation and lighting.
• You will receive assistance with your study of Christian Science, if you request it. Our library at Clearview has an abundant supply of authorized Christian Science literature and study aids published by the Christian Science Publishing Society.

Outpatient Services

Immediate, short-term Christian Science nursing care that does not require an overnight stay is provided at Clearview. This service is billed at $30 per half hour plus supplies.

This may include loving assistance with:

• Nail Care
• Cleansing and covering (bandaging)
• Assistance with mobility aids
• Bathing
• Spiritual encouragement
