In Christian Science nursing we have a phrase that we use: “a return to independence“. This is how we think about the belief of recovery. God’s child is returning to his/her native state of independence and self-governance, by knowing that they never left.
We help patients to return to independent activities such as walking. Often we use temporary aids such as a wheelchair, or a walker, to assist them toward independence. Patients can progress from being confined to bed, to using a wheelchair, then a cane, and finally to walking by themselves. All the while the Christian Science nurse is deeply knowing that it is man’s inalienable right to be free of every type of disability.
During this holiday weekend declare your freedom from disability and wrap up all mankind in the freedom of the Christ, the Comforter that we all have a right to enjoy!
